Palm Pre

Palm Pre

I have been using my new Palm Pre for about a week now and I have to say, the more I use it, the more I like it.  Really, “like” isn’t a strong enough word for it.  The look and feel of both the hardware and software are above and beyond the previous Palm models, me upgrading from a 755p.

I will do a more detailed review later, a friend should receive his new iPhone tomorrow so we’re going to pit them both against each other.

Really at this point I have just 2 main complaints.  First, the app store is still a little bare, but the SDK is still in beta.  Once it’s been properly tested and released to the public, it’s my understanding that if you can program in html, css and javascript you can program for this phone.  Apps galore should be released daily once that happens.

My second complaint is more of a glitch with my phone.  I haven’t read anything out there about it and my coworkers don’t have the same issue.  When the keyboard is returned to the its concealed position and it isn’t done gently (I have a tendency to snap it into place) the phone’s screen goes black and the phone turns off.  Now I have to wait almost 2 minutes for the phone to boot back up.  I think it’s a short somewhere, not a software update.  I just haven’t had time to take it into Sprint to see if they’ve heard anything about it.

More later…
